Saint-Gobain Applications Development Engineer II in Beaverton, Michigan

Job Goals:

New Business project responsibility from costing to feasibility signoff. Promotes a safe working environment, complies with proper use of PPE, reports incidents, and participates in functional department safety meetings. Exhibits good environmental practices and procedures consistent with job(s) performed and EMS (Environmental Management System) requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • •Responsible for managing new business and product development projects which include: product concept creation, design thinking, validation and feasibility testing, part costing, tooling design, material specifications, design and processing of new tools, testing standards, writing capital requisitions for equipment.

  • •Work closely with sales and marketing team to clearly understand customer need to develop new products accordingly.

  • •Work cross-functionally with manufacturing, supply-chain, quality and other functions to design and develop products.

  • •Work with equipment and material suppliers to ensure compliance with internal and external specifications.

  • •Must be able to manage cross-functional multi-site project teams and multiple projects simultaneously.

  • •Responsible for the success of all new business and of overall deliverables of new product development projects from concept to launch.

  • •Demonstrate strong leadership skills including, customer focus, relationship and team building, influencing and negotiating with internal and external partners.

  • •Travel as required to perform the objectives and deliver end results of the function.

  • •Perform other related duties as may be reasonably assigned in the course of business.

  • Education, Skills and Requirements:

  • Minimum 4 yr. degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.

  • CAD experience with Autocad or equivalent.

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience molding and/or extrusion of silicone, rubber polymers.

  • •2+ years of applications engineering and manufacturing experience.
