Saint-Gobain EHS Regional Manager in CALGARY, Canada

What’s the job?

The EHS Regional Manager is the in-house expert on EHS issues for the manufacturing sites in the region. The roles of the regional manager include:

  • Serve as the point of contact for multiple manufacturing, distribution and mining operations within defined region (see below)

  • Provide direct technical support to sites to meet EHS objectives as needed, including permitting, process or product review, regulatory interpretation

  • Provide consistent and efficient roll-out and training to the site personnel on Country, Region, and worldwide EHS programs

  • Provide guidance and training on technical and regulatory aspects of EHS as needed

  • Facilitate the sharing of good practices within their region, as well as with other members of the SGNA EHS&S team

  • Liaise with government agencies on all relevant EHS aspects

  • Perform EHS audits of sites for regulatory compliance and conformance with Saint-Gobain guidelines

  • Participate in projects as needed, including regulatory and ISA assessments

  • Oversee Occupational Workplace Compensation and Early and Safe Return to Work programs at sites

  • Provide guidance to sites on Region and SG worldwide sustainability initiatives such as waste, water, energy, and CO2 reduction efforts.

You will provide direct EHS support to the approximately 6 manufacturing plants, 2 mines and 9 Distribution centres within the region. This includes training, permitting, technical reviews, on-site technical support, leading special projects, SG program implementation, agency interaction, regulatory evaluation, auditing, etc..

You will also support SGNA EHS&S activities by serving as subject matter expert (SME), leading implementation of EHS&S programs, serving on subcommittees for key topics, and promoting the continued integration of our core values across the organization.

What do you bring?

  • Post-Secondary Diploma in applied science related field.

  • Occupational Health & Safety Certificate CCOHS-listed program.

  • Environmental Management Certificate - Preferred.

  • 10-15 years of experience in the EHS field in the construction or manufacturing industry.

  • Multiple-site management experience.

  • Strong active listening ability of collect information from employees and to relay relevant facts through incident investigations and risk reduction actions.

  • Strong computer proficiency (Intermediate level - MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and technical aptitude.

  • Internal audit ISO 14001, 45001, COR - Preferred.

  • CRSP, CSP, CIH - Preferred.
