Saint-Gobain Material Control Specialist in Cleveland, Ohio

The Material Control Specialist will perform tasks associated with assuring the quality of molded Thermoplastic and Thermoset materials used in the Aerospace and Industrial industries. The Material Control Specialist is responsible for assuring the identification, quality, integrity, and overall control of incoming raw materials and assembly components from suppliers and third party vendors as well as outbound materials and sub-contract processes prior to customer distribution.

Days/Hours: Monday - Friday, 9:30am-6:00pm

Essential responsibilities include:

  • Inspects inbound material and ancillary documentation for identification, quantity, quality, testing requirements, supplier details, certification requirements, and approve material certification with suppliers.

  • Supports Customer-Owned Property workflow associated with housings, assemblies, or other components which constitute customer-owned material, but require re-work operations at the Saint-Gobain HyComp facility. Support entails compilation of appropriate documentation, documentation archival, necessary collaboration and communication with internal key stakeholders, and inventory management of applicable parts.

  • Inspects inbound material following execution of supply chain activities including but not limited to special processing, testing, operation execution, etc. Material is to be inspected and evaluated for satisfaction of established acceptance criteria as stipulated by the organization for vendor compliance.

  • Works cross functionally with Production, Shipping, Packaging, and Quality Assurance to address issues identified and impacting supplied materials or discrepancies identified prior to shipment. This may include containing suspect material using the internal Quality Notification (QN work flow), supporting root cause and corrective action investigations, the issuance of SCARs to suppliers, and any associated resolution activities.

  • Inspects outbound material and ancillary documentation for identification, quantity, quality, packaging weight, and other shipping-critical attributes for both final part and subcontracted items.

  • Supports Quality Assurance Inspection where assigned to facilitate finished goods inspection, self-release over-inspection, and FAIR compilation and submission.

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Bachelor's degree in a Quality related field is preferred

  • 5+ years' of proven Quality experience. Must have advanced knowledge of GD&T, precision measurement gaging/tools. Strong Understanding of AS9100/ISO9001.

  • 3+ years' of production/manufacturing experience. Relevant career experience in a manufacturing, production, and or warehousing/shipping environment is preferred.

  • Ability to read, interpret and comprehend complex customer engineering specifications and requirements is preferred.

  • Ability to collaborate with diverse, cross-functional teams

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong computer skills / aptitude. Experience in design, development, and implementation of Electronic Quality Management Systems (e-QMS).

  • Strong knowledge of Quality Sciences (RCCA, Problem Solving, Process Approach, FMEA, Statistical Process Control, Data Mining, Calibration, Non-Conforming Material Control).

  • Can work multiple projects concurrently. Deadline focused and detail oriented. Ability and desire to be cross-trained.

  • Advanced knowledge of AS9100 / ISO 9001 standards.

  • Must be able to work well in a team environment, adapt to change and have the ability to influence in a direct and positive manner.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must have effective communications skills both written and verbal to interface with personnel and customers in a professional manner.

  • Working in above ambient temperatures
