Saint-Gobain Glass Technician - 1st Shift in Faribault, Minnesota

The Glass Technician 1 assists with the fabrication of fire-rated Glass. This includes but is not limited to operating a Cutting Table, Product Assembly via Glass Wash, Glass Inspection Station, Sealer, Spacer Bar Saw, quality inspection and packaging. This individual is responsible for effectively working as part of the production team while adhering to safety, quality, housekeeping, and productivity standards.

Essential Functions:

  • Working within assigned function, including but not limited to operating a cutting table, Product Assembly via Glass Wash, Glass Inspection Station, Sealer, Spacer Bar Saw, quality inspection and packaging

  • Performing quality checks on product

  • Participating in daily meetings for work instructions and production handoff between shifts

  • Maintaining a clean work area, managing to 5S standards

  • Work a consistent schedule, Monday thru Friday from 5:45 AM - 2:15 PM

Hourly Pay Rate: $21.00 - $23.00 per hour (DOE)

What do you bring?

  • High School or GED preferred

  • Experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment

  • Experience working as part of a team

  • Experience following quality and safety standards

  • Experience handling Glass either in Production or Installation environments

  • Experience operating a forklift or crane preferred

  • Experience operating Glass Production Machinery desirable

  • Experience with the fabrication, installation and/or assembly of Glass a plus

  • Experience with 5S preferred

  • Commitment to working safely and adhering to all safety standards

  • Attention to detail and ability to closely monitor work process to quality standards

  • Physical ability to perform repetitive motions and lift heavy objects up to 50 pounds

  • Ability to accept direction and communicate effectively while being open-minded and flexible

  • Ability to ask questions and proactively communicate problems to supervision

  • Ability to understand and follow standard operating procedures

  • Ability to fill out production paperwork

  • Ability to use a tape measure, basic hand tools, and basic power tools

  • Reliable with excellent attendance and punctuality

  • Ability to effectively work independently or as part of a team

  • Willingness and ability to train others in assigned work process

  • Ability to balance precise work, accuracy, and productivity

  • Ability to perform basic preventative maintenance and troubleshoot issues

  • Flexibility to work overtime or varying shifts, if needed

  • Ability to travel up to 5% of the time
