Saint-Gobain Quality Control Technician in Faribault, Minnesota

Its award winning electronically tintable glass solution is second-to-none and recognized by Green Building, Inc. as one of the top ten green building products available on the market place.Saint-Gobain SageGlass is looking for a Quality Control Technician who will be responsible for carrying out all required testing for the quality and regulatory functions. This position will be a primary support function for regulatory samples and tracking test samples to ensure quality and timeliness of creation. The Quality Control Technician be expected to manage a testing schedule, distribute reports, and any escalation of concerns. The Quality Control Technician will be expected to have an understand of testing standards to ensure compliance. In this position, you will maintain quality standards by approving incoming materials, in-process production, finished products, and recording the results. Excellent communication and leadership skills are a must, as well as a keen attention to detail. Essential Functions/Responsibilities include:

  • Conduct Quality and Regulatory Testing

  • Vario II – Type A and Type B

  • Bow and Dish Testing

  • 4-Point Bend Testing

  • Ball Drop for ASTM and abZ

  • Monitor Plant Testing for frequency and quality on all critical functions or regulatory required testing

  • Responsible for conducting new testing

  • Evaluate and analyze test results for compliance and trends

  • Review and archive production inspection and testing records

  • Maintain a testing schedule

  • Initiate unplanned event and document escalation and communication plans

  • Manage record archives and retention samples

  • Support certification testing and sample collection

  • Submit documentation required for test sample builds

  • Support coordination activity for 3rd party product certification audits (EU-CE, SGCC/IGCC, CCC)

  • Support internal quality system audits

  • Perform and document self-assessments to identify gaps and opportunities.

  • Assist with raw material qualifications by confirming specifications via visual inspection or measurement testing.

  • Raw Material Verification

  • Support Material Review Board, set up and disposition

  • Create shift pass down report

  • Primary back up for Quality Assurance Technician

  • 1-3 years of quality and/or manufacturing experience preferred

  • IGU Manufacturing is a plus

  • Basic use of personal computer and Microsoft Office applications, such as Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel and Work is preferredAbility to identify, escalate, and take action to resolve problems

  • Independently work to maintain daily task priorities set by team leader that can dynamically change with production and customer requirements

  • Assist in with reading and applying test standards

  • Ability to work closely with Operations, Architectural Solutions, Planning and Process Development Team personnel.

  • Basic understanding of Quality Management Systems.

  • Ability to lift 25 pounds, move material with assistance of carts or vacuum lift systems

  • Ability to stand for long periods of time

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
