Saint-Gobain Production Supervisor in Holly Springs, Mississippi

Job Summary:

Production Supervisor helps production employees achieve company and personal goals by communicating expectations, coaching, counselling, planning, monitoring, and evaluating job results. Enforces company policies and guidelines. Recruits, hires, and trains employees. Assists employees by creating personal growth and development opportunities. In addition, you will be responsible for meeting daily performance objectives and assuming a leadership role in quality, safety, and productivity initiatives.

Essential Functions:

  • Oversees daily activities of the production lines on the appropriate shift.

  • Plan, coordinate and advise employees of daily tasks

  • Involved in the hiring process and training of employees; coaching, planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

  • Provide positive leadership skills and high visibility to motivate employees to achieve departmental/personal objectives while following Standard Operating Procedures and Safe Work Practices that will ensure consistent, high quality production.

  • Coach employees within the parameters of company policies relating to work rules, absenteeism, discipline, payroll, hiring, and performance reviews, while maintaining thorough and accurate documentation.

  • Resolves operational, manufacturing and maintenance issues to ensure minimum cost, prevent operational delays and find continuous operational improvements.

  • Monitor procedures to ensure that they are being carried out, and are effective at reducing rework and scrap. The Supervisor is accountable for the amount of rework, scrap, (product overweight’s) warranty orders generated by his shift.

  • Learn the complete operation of equipment in order to provide assistance with difficult troubleshooting issues.

  • Ensure continuous upgrading of your product, process and technical skills to provide continuous improvements in all areas of responsibility.

  • Ensure all production reports and schedules, relevant information and system requirements are completed daily and are 100% accurate.

  • Maintains safe and clean work environment by educating and directing employees on safe practices, the use of all control points, equipment, and resources; maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures.

  • Maintains a working relationship with the union by following the terms of the CBA.

  • Resolves employee problems by analyzing data; investigating issues; identifying solutions; recommending action.

  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies.

  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Requirements:

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Required)

  • Bachleor's Degree (Preferred)

  • Minimum 5 years manufacturing experience (Required)

Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities:

  • Proven ability in planning, organizing, motivating, controlling, problem-solving, negotiating and leadership in a manufacturing environment

  • Communication, active listening and people skills by leading team of production staff

  • Persuasive, persistent, mature and responsible

  • Safety-conscious, proactive and able to work well under pressure

  • Able to work on the production line as required

  • A working knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act, the Industrial Regulations and the Employment Standards Act

  • Strong working knowledge of company policies, work instructions, in house quality inspection standards, plant air, chiller and sprinkler systems, VSI standards
