Saint-Gobain Innovation Project Manager in MALVERN, Pennsylvania

What's the job?

The position will assist in the implementation of the new product development strategy for the residential roofing product portfolio as well as lead key strategic projects for the business. Execute action plans to accomplish product innovation goals consistent with the goals of the business. Assist in the development of successful new products which support the CertainTeed brand of products. This role will help manage new product development projects utilizing the stage gate process. The role will focus on driving product performance for CertainTeed’s product range and developing new products aligned to market trends. The position will be expected to work cross-functionally and be a resource in the business on NPD, product and technical related matters while working closely with Product Management, Manufacturing, Sales, Logistics, Finance, & Purchasing.

New Product Development Process

• This position assists in managing new product development process.

• Utilize portfolio management software to help manage the new product development process.

• The role will focus on analyzing market trends and bringing new products to market by developing product requirements and product development plans. In the business, you will be the key subject matter expert for the product life cycle process.

• Helps facilitate the selection, education, and effectiveness of numerous multi-functional teams using the stage-gate process and responsible for bringing projects in within scope and budget.

• In conjunction with product management leadership, has responsibility to manage the new product development process in coordination with the management team, to achieve prescribed objectives of +25% new product sales.

• Aids in the IP review process

• Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation and reporting templates.

• Works with R & D and Product Management to help create a systematic competitive benchmarking and testing approach for the roofing.

• Assist in preparation for business portfolio reviews.

Project Management Leadership

• Establish and maintain processes for managing scope during the project lifecycle, setting quality and performance standards and assessing risks

• Assign and monitor resources to ensure project efficiency and maximize deliverables

• Report project outcomes and/or risks to the appropriate management channels and escalate issues according to the project work plan

• Utilize Monday.com portfolio/project management system to lead multi-department project teams

• Effectively communicate expectations to project team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion, continuously manage objectives, and hold project team members accountable for delivery

Conduct New Product Market Research Activities

• Assist with the use of the BluePrinting voice of customer platform to understand customer preferences and market trends.

• Identify key consumer and market insights and use multiple sources of data to drive the decision-making process for new product development.

• Help measure customer expectations and satisfaction levels in conjunction with the business and the customer experience team.

• Conduct any required internal or external research activities to help execute the new development strategy.

What do you bring?

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Business, or other technical fields (MBA would be a plus)

  • 3+ years of experience in new product development, product management or R&D is preferred.

  • Demonstrated capability in planning, organizing, integrating, and measuring projects and programs.

  • Strong problem solving, analytical and computer skills.

  • Must have the ability to work effectively and positively with all organizational levels, be proactive and an innovator.

  • Required to be an excellent writer and communicator

  • Required to have deep financial understanding of product costing, cost cakes and P&L analysis.
