Position Description
Job Summary
What’s the job?
This position acts as a resource within the facility to other departments regarding employee safety, performs audits, employee and contractor training, ensures environmental compliance, and leads the plant environmental reporting and improvement efforts. The position requires technical skills and knowledge of the process as well as strong capabilities in areas of planning, scheduling, organizing, follow up and cost control.
This is a greenfield site/brand new plant. In this phase, this position will work proactively to ensure safe and efficient operation in late 2024. During this phase, the EHS Manager will require travel to existing sites to capture current state as a baseline for our preparation.
Operational phase expectations: Environmental health and safety site manager inspect and evaluate the environment, equipment and processes in working areas to ensure compliance with government safety regulations and industry standards. Their chief goal is to protect the employees, customers and the environment.
Lead in development and implementation of EHS policies, procedures and safety incentives to continually improve safety
Manage plant proactive EHS processes: Gensuite, TF-4, TF-5, EvE
Monitors Federal, State and Local standards and regulations; recommends required new programs/elements to management and the EHS Committee
Ensure site internal EHS standards, requirements and external (ISO14001) requirements are met by the site
Ensure all employee safety training requirements are met
Perform and maintain periodically updated Risk Assessments for routine and non-routine tasks performed by the workforce
Work in coordination with department managers and regional EHS Manager
Must be able to interact with all levels of plant personnel as well as contractors; possess strong social skills
Ensures company methods and procedures for communicating environmental, health & safety matters to employees are effective, and employee concerns and suggestions receive prompt response by management
Ensure EPA records of hazardous waste, air emission permitting, and water pollution discharge, as well as industrial health monitoring and records of employee hazard exposure according to OSHA regulations
Evaluates environmental impact of all projects and determines appropriate mitigation measures
Lead in the investigations of any safety related incidents and ensure prompt corrective actions are implemented
Actively participate in the daily production meetings
Manage EHS calendars with periodic review
Coordinate with management to schedule periodic maintenance and upgrade activities to environmental control and safety equipment.
Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.
Required Qualifications
What do you bring?
Bachelor’s Degree required (Occupational Safety & Health and/or Environmental Management Degree Preferred)
3 to 5 years of experience (manufacturing environment preferred)
Must be able to effectively use Microsoft Office including Excel/Word/Powerpoint.
Must have the ability to read, write, and perform mathematical computations at a level required for successful job performance
Ability to perform all operations within acceptable quality and time standards
Ability to effectively present information to employees at all levels of the organization
Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of changing situations
