Position Description

Job Summary

What’s the job?

The Maintenance Planner’s primary objective is the planning of all resources to insure safe and efficient execution of all scheduled maintenance work, thus keeping plant equipment in condition to deliver full design capacity and reliability, optimizing assets profitability for the life of the organization. A major part of this is maintaining an efficient preventive maintenance program. Works closely with all members of the maintenance team in achieving these objectives. This person will be responsible for cataloging the maintenance spares; managing the work order system; managing the tasking entry into the CMMS, and setting the system up to maintain accurate equipment history.

Responsibilities:

  • Prioritize and Drive Safety Work Order Completion with Upmost Urgency

  • Identify and prioritize routine maintenance, recommend schedules to maintenance department.

  • Establish the preparatory work required prior to scheduled equipment down time.

  • Define clearly the scope of work to be performed.

  • Work with contractors to develop and walk through project scopes as necessary

  • Determine and list all the safety procedures associated with the work to be performed.

  • Develop a detailed job plan with all the work sequences involved to adequately complete the repairs, as well as equipment downtime and man-hours required.

  • Develop a tool list specific to the job to be performed.

  • Provide a parts list with reference numbers and exact location for every work order and ensure that all required parts are in stock before job scheduling.

  • Ensure all technical specifications and special instructions are provided on paper to the Supervisor and tradesmen.

  • Determine the cost involved for parts and supplies for each work order.

  • Order all non-stock parts and materials as required by the job plan.

  • Inform the Maintenance Supervisor when a job is ready for scheduling.

  • Enter Purchase Requisitions and confirm parts and contractors as necessary

Documentation/ Continuous Improvement

  • Responsible to improve and maintain the equipment files and history (paper and electronic).

  • Check the validity of the work orders and gather all pertinent information to improve the content and quality of information on work orders.

  • Update, maintain and develop, when required, the equipment parts catalog for every piece of equipment.

  • Establish and maintain accurate database & library for facility manufacturing equipment.

  • Review all existing master plans on a regular basis and ensure that they are up to date and contain all pertinent information.

  • Participate in the budgeting process (approximately $3M annually) and is the prime source of advice in the planning and scheduling of major maintenance activities

  • Participate in the maintenance department on-call schedule

Parts/Stores

  • Work with the Site Buyer and Storeroom Clerk to update and maintain the equipment parts catalog, and develop parts catalogs for existing equipment that have none, as well as develop equipment tool list for jobs that require such.

  • Responsible for all Site related repairs and Maintenance in conjunction with other planner. Building Maintenance, RR Track maintain & repair, HVAC , Storm/Sanitary Drainage building integrity

Projects / Repairs

  • Execution of plant improvement, upgrade, and general maintenance projects from start to finish

  • Act as contractor safety coordinator as necessary for designated projects and repairs

  • When available Supervise mechanical contractors during shutdowns

Required Qualifications

What do you bring?

  • Bachelor's Degree (preferred). Excellent planning, organization, leadership, presentation, decision making, analytical, oral and written communication skills are required.

  • Five years of supervisory experience in a continuous-operation industrial environment

  • Five years of gypsum wallboard manufacturing

  • Strong knowledge of the gypsum processing industry is a plus.

  • Must be able to work flexible hours to support 24-7 operations

  • 10% Travel.
