Saint-Gobain EHS Specialist in Puyallup, Washington
Responsible for the coordination and directing of environmental, safety and health initiatives at the facility to assure compliance with local, state and federal worker safety, health and environmental regulations. Performs a variety of functions to maintain and preserve the safety and health of employees and the environment. Proactively drives awareness, communicates best practices, provides training and implements new programs related to Safety, Environmental and Health. Leads the training and awareness programs to empower and establish an effective EHS culture in the plant. Integral part of the WCM Health and Safety, Environment, and Risk Prevention Pillars.
·Developing, maintaining and updating facility health, safety, and environmental programs, procedures, records, and documents and ISO14000 compliant Environmental Management System
·Planning, scheduling, and conducting training related to health, safety, and environmental programs.·Oversee investigations of incidents and make recommendations for corrective action.·Assist with site’s regulatory reporting requirements under local, state and federal guidelines including emission and waste discharge.·Coordinates health, safety, and environmental projects with other departments/functions and recommends and implements methods to increase health, safety, and environmental compliance and reduce/eliminate identified risk·Conduct risk assessments, develop and implement action plans.
Other duties may be assigned.
Preference for engineering degree with focus in environmental, health and safety. Consideration will be given for other degree and experience.
3+ years’ experience developing, implementing and running a safety program and experience with environmental reporting in a manufacturing environment
Strong communication, team building skills and ability to train others at all levels
Knowledge of manufacturing processes and equipment and competent to assess safety and environmental risk and recommend improvements in controls as needed (competence in using a disciplined risk and gap reduction methodology).
Strong problem solving skills and organizational skills
Ability to lead teams and/or actively participate on teams and coordinate activities with other departments/functions to achieve the EHS goals for the site.
Efficient and willingness to lead site achieve desired results. Must be a team player. Self-starter and meet commitments & deadlines with limited direct supervision.
Excellent interactive skills. Effective communications skills essential-both written and verbal
