Saint-Gobain Maintenance Technician in Puyallup, Washington

To be responsible for the installation, repair and maintenance of production manufacturing equipment and facilities maintenance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITIES:

  • Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment and plant facilities.

  • Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments.

  • Provide minor emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production when needed.

  • Work with close tolerances and measuring equipment

  • Read and interpret drawings ,models, and blueprints

  • Proficiency in the use of power and hand tools for defined processes.

  • Meet productivity time and quality standards in area of responsibility

  • Understand and apply all aspects of 5S

  • Maintain compliance with all Health, Safety and Environmental regulations

  • Maintain compliance with ISO/AS9100 requirements

  • Use company systems such as time clocks, QAD, QCBD (site quality database) and SiteHawk (SDS database)

  • Perform other duties requiring similar skill, effort and accountability within the area of responsibility. May perform duties of similar skill, effort and accountability in other areas as assigned during down periods or as a cross-training opportunity.

  • Perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to:

  • Mechanical, Electrical, Pneumatic, Hydraulic, Troubleshooting and Repair of production machines

  • Reassemble machines after the completion of repair or maintenance work

  • Inspect or test damaged machine parts, and mark defective areas or advise supervisors of repair needs

  • Ability to lubricate or apply adhesives or other materials to machines, machine parts, or other equipment, according to specified procedures

  • Ability to repair and troubleshoot electrical systems and components (e.g., wiring, switches, lighting, transformers, switchboards, motor control centers) to accomplish work assignments.

  • Knowledge of tools (e.g., drill driver, table saws, band saw, welding machines) used in the fabrication, maintenance and repair of structures and fixtures (e.g., concrete, tile, wood and metal framework, roofing, woodworking) to accomplish a work assignment, and to provide direction/information and training.

  • Knowledge of the processes for conducting inspections of standard plumbing installations concerned with various applications (e.g., water, gas, sewage) to ensure proper function, safety, and maximum efficiency.

  • Ability to use hand tools and power tools used in the fabrication, maintenance and repair of equipment to accomplish work assignments.

  • Ability to measure and mark for alterations using a variety of precision tools

  • Ability to work independently on projects or assignments without close supervision or detailed instructions to maximize workplace productivity.

Experience and/or Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • 3-5 years’ experience in maintenance role preferred but not required

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for prolonged periods of time. Ability to manually operate and manipulate hand tool required. Ability to regularly lift and move materials and equipment in excess of 50 pounds and to push and pull up to 200 pounds on wheels and lift. Visual acuity to read work processes and blue prints and to perform precision machine work and visually inspect and verify accuracy of work performed. Ability to work from heights using steps ladders, lifts, etc.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The noise level in the work environment can vary from moderate to occasionally loud, requiring protective hearing equipment. Some exposure to workplace dust and debris. Occasional exposure to chemicals which may require wearing a respirator or other protective gear
