Concrete Admixture Development Manager
Position Description
Job Summary
The Concrete Admixture Development Manager develops and improves existing or new chemical admixtures for concrete, while using advanced theoretical and experimental scientific and technological investigation. Evaluates raw materials, formulates aqueous solutions and emulsions for maximum stability and performance, while meeting sustainability, EHS and economical goals. Works with concrete technologists to measure the effect of admixtures in concrete and applies the feedback for further formulation improvement.

Essential Functions:
Product Development
Works with raw materials, formulates aqueous solutions or emulsions for maximum stability and performance, while meeting sustainability, EHS and economical goals for concrete admixtures
Designs and conducts independent, accurate and defensible scientific R&D activities to evaluate and improve performance/cost of existing products, develop new products, and/or provide analytical and technical support to existing or new chemical admixture technologies
Works with concrete professionals to understand the effect of admixtures in concrete and applies learning for formulation adjustment
Leads PDC projects aimed at the development of new products or significantly improving Chryso's cost position, and may lead a small group
Proposes new projects for R&D, productivity projects, or process/method enhancement
Maintains and troubleshoots lab instruments and field equipment in area of focus
Prepares and maintains JSA and SOP for new equipment and operations
Develops new test methods or procedures and validates the results
Communication & Presentation
Communicates with Innovation, Plant, Tech Service, and Sales personnel
Writes clear reports and routinely gives presentations on research and development results to internal and external audiences
Innovates by providing novel solutions or new product concepts based on scientific principles
Contributes to patent protection of ideas
Interfaces with third party labs when necessary
Required Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Engineering or related
Master's degree in Engineering
5+ year's experience in Concrete Construction and/or admixture industry
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
PhD in Engineering
5+ year's experience in Chemical business, chemical lab or technical environment
Traits of the successful candidate:
Excellent organizational, time management and follow-up to completion skills
Confident and assertive
Must be able to work independently, have good communication skills and the ability to instruct others
Excellent overall verbal and written communication skills
Conduct one’s job with minimal supervision
Proficiency in Microsoft office 360
Able to work remotely
