Job Summary

The job objectives are to safely transport finished product and non-conforming product to multiple pre-determined locations in the plant. The primary way of transporting this material is using a sit-down forklift truck. The material is removed from equipment on a continuous production line after proper labelling and sorting has taken place. Tasks such as quality inspection of material and equipment inspection is to be completed frequently to ensure that the production line continues flowing during the process. Team communication along with safe work practices are essential and required to maintain steady process from start to finish.

Essential Functions

  • Spends 85% of time operating a sit-down forklift moving wallboard into the select locations, moving pallets of raw materials, and equipment parts.

  • Maintains, monitors, and understands all equipment in the designated area.

  • Maintain manual data log sheets of finished product and product dry waste.

  • Equipment is operated by a Human Machine Interface (HMI) System.

  • Performs start-up and shut-down procedures for all related equipment.

  • Coordinates with the Production Team on all product changeovers.

  • Manages refeed area to ensure all boards are dispositioned correctly using a Forklift.

  • Manages and organizes finished product end tapes using a Forklift.

  • Lock out Tag out (LOTO) and other safety procedures needed for the Takeoff.

  • Completes Level 1 Quality Inspection Tests on finished product which requires the operator to be on and off the forklift.

  • Performs AM / CIL Duties (Work Orders) on Area Equipment.

  • Establishes Housekeeping and 5S Standards.

  • Actively contributes to our WCM (World Class Manufacturing) processes using similar Six Sigma / Lean Manufacturing practices.

  • Makes suggestions or recommendations for improvement of plant equipment.

  • Acknowledges others when spoken to in a professional manner.

  • Resolves interpersonal differences in a professional manner.

  • Identifies and communicates quality defects from visual inspection and board testing to Bundler operator for resolution.

  • Utilizes Area Improvement Board to track issues and communicate.

  • Other tasks assigned by Supervisor or Manager to meet Production needs.

Requirements

  • High School diploma

  • Ability to work in a team-based environment with little to no supervision

  • Ability to clearly communicate both verbally and in writing

  • Forklift Experience (Minimum of 1 Year)

Preferred Requirements

  • Manufacturing experience in a team-based environment

  • Familiarity with Safety Programs in a manufacturing facility

  • Basic Computer Skills for Training and Reporting needs

  • Familiar with any Lean Manufacturing Practices

  • Familiar in Autonomous Maintenance practices (Clean/Inspect/Lubricate)

Working Conditions

  • No travel required for position.

  • 12.5 Hour Shift – 6:00am – 6:30pm / 6:00pm – 6:30am

  • Rotating Shift – Day and Night Shift – Rotates every 3 months.

  • Dry and dusty conditions.

  • Primary work area is indoors with varying temperature conditions depending on the outside weather.

  • Some outside work is necessary but is very limited.

  • Heaters and Fans are in place throughout the facility to maintain a comfortable work environment.
