Controls Engineer
Position Description
Job Summary
The Controls Engineer will provide industrial automation support for the CertainTeed plant located in Social Circle, GA. This includes the management, daily troubleshooting support, design and solution implementation of all industrial networks on the manufacturing plant floor, including servers, switches, HMI industrial PC’s and numerous PLC’s.
Essential Functions
Lead troubleshooting efforts with the Plant Controller, Process Engineers, and electrical maintenance department
Assess manufacturing processes and design and assist in scalable efforts to automate manual activities and reduce operational effort. Recommend projects to standardize equipment and processes across multiple sites. Assist in execution of developed strategy to achieve and sustain results.
Work with engineers and technicians to integrate automation designs onto the production floor
Develop operation manuals and procedures for new systems
Analyze and resolve problems related to office based personal computers, windows servers, local area networks, operating systems and all other areas of infrastructure that may come under their control. Perform onsite analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of complex desktop, server and network problems for end users, and recommend and implement corrective solutions, including offsite repair for remote users as needed
Required Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent required
1 year applied professional experience in instrumentation & controls / PLC
1 year of experience in comprehensive Project Management
1 years of experience in software troubleshooting in a manufacturing environment
Technical Requirements
Thorough knowledge and experience of specifying, designing, implementing and maintaining equipment for industrial and business networking, servers, firewalls, switches, PC’s.
Direct knowledge and hands-on experience with VMware products and solutions
Direct knowledge and hands-on experience with SQL Server
Experience designing and installing network switch and cabling infrastructure. To aid in design, CAD experience is a plus.
