Saint-Gobain Product Engineer in Winter haven (Unisul), Florida

  • Design, develop and test industry leading products to support the growth strategies and market position of CTMW.

  • Ensure product designs incorporate the features to meet customer expectations and the materials and manufacturing techniques to achieve profitability demands.

  • Improve the manufacturability of existing products to reduce labor and material costs.

  • Design/select and implement all necessary equipment, fixtures and tooling to consistently produce high quality products.

  • Advocate World Class Manufacturing (WCM) activities, including lean manufacturing, continuous process improvement, kaizen events and 5S.

  • Support the Item Master and Bill of Materials modules in the ERP system. Support the equipment and testing needs of other CT business units.

  • CNC machine programming.

  • Support Sales with customer service and new product development, Purchasing with component selection and inventory control, and Manufacturing with safety initiatives

  • Participate in the capital equipment selection, acquisition and implementation process, and the building, facilities and grounds maintenance.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering required; Graduate degree a plus

  • A minimum 5+ years of design and manufacturing engineering experience in a discrete manufacturing environment; machining , metal fabrication, welding and mechanical assembly preferred

  • Strong knowledge of pneumatic systems, electrical circuitry and machine assembly required

  • Self-motivated, with demonstrated successes as a project leader

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Proficient in AutoCAD and SolidWorks; must be capable of learning CNC machine programming

  • Proficient in MS Office and experienced with manufacturing ERP/MRP systems; BPCS and/or SAP experience a plus

  • Adequate financial skills for capital requests and cost improvements

  • Available for limited travel (< 20%)

  • New product design and development, meeting market demands and cost objectives

  • Product enhancements and design for manufacturability

  • Process improvements, to increase throughput and reduce costs

  • Capital equipment identification, selection, and installation

  • Occasionally will work in a shop environment while testing new products, evaluating manufacturing processes, and providing engineering support to the Plant Manager and production personnel

  • Must work closely with Sales, Manufacturing, and Purchasing to meet customer demand and new product development needs

  • Will provide customer service and machine troubleshooting support

  • Must manage a network of outside contractors and service technicians to maintain equipment and facilities
