Position Description

Job Summary

The Business Development Manager will drive the growth and success of the adhesive and sealant business in the construction and retail segments. In this dynamic role, you will be responsible for integrating market development, business development, and product management strategies to propel the company forward. The ideal candidate possesses a strategic mindset, exceptional analytical skills, and a proven track record of successfully implementing and managing business initiatives within the construction and/or retail adhesive and sealant segment.

Market Development

  • Conduct comprehensive market research to identify growth opportunities, market trends, and potential threats.

  • Develop and implement strategies to expand our presence in existing markets and explore new market entry points.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align market development efforts with overall business goals.

  • Provide guidance relating to NAM product governance and regulatory compliance, working closely with SG EHS group. Ensuring products remain in compliance is critical to the development of sustainable profitable revenue growth

  • Working with marketing/commercial teams, continual analysis and understanding of the competitive situation, including trends, packaging concepts, substitute technologies, to enhance and create future value propositions.

Business Development

  • Build and nurture relationships with internal and external clients, partners, and key stakeholders to drive business opportunities.

  • Identify and create new revenue streams, partnerships, and business alliances in the Construction and/or Retail segment

  • Lead negotiations, contract development, and deal closures.

  • Develop business justification for investing in product development

  • Execute goals for external networking to build partnerships and collaborative relationships with customers, vendors, trade associations, and industry experts to deliver innovation and expansion results more quickly and effectively

Product Management

  • Oversee the entire product lifecycle, from ideation to launch, ensuring products meet market demands and contribute to business objectives.

  • Collaborate with RD teams and/or external vendors to prioritize features, enhancements, and updates.

  • Monitor product performance, gather customer feedback, and drive continuous improvement of the portfolio.

  • Guide and coordinate efforts of the regional R&D technical business teams and provide primary technical interaction with internal groups to ensure product meets performance and quality expectations

  • Collaborate with procurement and Supply Chain/Logistics/DCE to insure we have a robust S&OP plan in place to manage inventory (never out of A&B products) effective DG handling process and reduce risk of expired inventory.

  • Produce training materials for field sales team for the assigned products, applications, and customer support tools

  • Able to lead search and identify/select partners with local adhesives/sealant distribution/manufacturing (in US) to provide additional product options for resale within portfolio

Required Qualifications

The position must have strong knowledge of Adhesives & Sealants market – specifically the construction and retail segments. The incumbent is considered the market expert for product & application and understanding market trends, product governance, regulations and customer needs supporting our commercial business objectives. The incumbent must also be agile at teaching, trouble shooting, and providing training leadership on product applications, technology and design, markets, competitive situations, and product value proposition.

Additional Description

  • BS in STEM field or BS in business with professional experience in adhesives/sealants (Required)

  • Master’s degree (Preferred)

  • 7+ years business development experience, of which 5+ years successful experience in adhesive, sealants (Required)

  • Industrial experience/knowledge of product applications – specifically within construction industry and/or elastomeric adhesives and sealants (Required)

  • Account management of major national distributors or national retailers (Preferred)

  • Highly dynamic with ability to quickly explore and adjust strategy and approaches as necessary in a start-up environment (Essential)

  • The ability to think and work under minimal supervision is essential, in a remote work setting (Required)

  • Customer support experience (Providing product application training) (Required)

  • Demonstrated Project Management Skills (Required)

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, cross-cultural aptitude and experience (Required)

  • The ability to exhibit confidence & convey passion (Required)
